Autumn/Fall (Sept-Nov)

This is the popular trekking season in Nepal to admire trekking and for the mountain views. The season is the best time for Himalayas treks, peaks climbing, expeditions and tours, etc.

The autumn has a mild and perfect temperature. Daytime temperatures at most altitudes are generally comfortable for walking, the sky is clear much of the time and rain and snow are occasional occurrences. Daytime temperatures will vary from 15ºC to 35ºC in the Kathmandu Valley to around 10ºC at 3,600m and progressively lower the higher we go. At the highest altitudes although the days can be nice and sunny the temperatures can drop to 10ºC and much lower. Nights will be colder with temperatures dropping as low as minus 10ºC and lower at the highest altitudes. The perfect weather with comfortable climbing routes with less danger snow slides in the autumn gives more chances of the successful summit over the Himalayas. Ama Dablam, Yala Peak, Cho Oyu, Saribung, Thorang La, Kyoji Ri, Chulu and other several peaks are climbed in autumn. Autumn and Spring both seasons are perfect for the Mt. Everest expedition via Nepal.

Spring (Mar-May)

Spring season is another top season for Nepal travelers. The season is time for Himalayas trekking, adventure peak climbing, expeditions, and tours. Day temperatures in Kathmandu are approximately above 20ºC. Skies are usually clear and days on trek are sunny and mild with clear mountain views. The climatic condition is clear and moderate. The days are longer and warmer. This is the perfect time to visit Terai for viewing wildlife. Both day and night temperatures will be warmer in general. The mountain views are excellent and the temperature is quite moderate. It is very hot in the lowlands and temperatures rise to 35ºC in Kathmandu. The new migratory birds begin to appear in nature. Different varieties of wildflowers, especially the rhododendrons bloom in this season and this is one of the reasons people chose to trek in spring. The entire environment is so pleasant with lush greenery and melody of chirping birds. The sky looks so deep and the rhythmic creeks please our heart and the mind. The highest mountain in the world Mt. Everest is climbed in Spring via Tibet. Chulu, Lhotse, Manaslu, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Mera, Island, and other several peaks are climbed in spring in high ratio. The wind speed might be the problem for this season but talking consideration of all kinds of factors, spring is the best climbing time for the Himalayas of Nepal.

Winter (Dec-Feb)

Due to cold at the high many accommodation providers will shut down during this season. Snow can be expected on any departure, usually at the higher altitudes. But the popular destinations like Everest base camp, Annapurna, Ghorepani Poonhill, Gokyo, Langtang, Tamang Heritage Trail, Indigenous People Trek, Mulde View Point Trek, etc remains open. Need to be equipped for temperatures as low as minus 25ºC plus wind chill on summit day. Though it gets colder in the night, often it offers the clear day / blue sky and relatively fewer trekkers on the trail. However, we need to be selective in choosing the winter trekking as climbing and crossing high passes trips won't be an ideal option. Trekking in the lower region is perfect in winter like jungles safari, Kathmandu Chitwan Tour, Bardia National Park, and Pokhara tour. Rock Climbing also can be done in winter.

Summer (Jun-Aug)

June, July and August are the main monsoon rain and season of farming in Nepal. Monsoon with heavy rainfall makes trekking unfavorable. Landslides may occur, causing road and trail closures. During the summer the temperature is hot, humid weather, with most trekking areas seeing cloudy skies and rain. Due to global warming, Monsoon was also found to be good weather in the past year. However, the Terai and hilly areas experience much higher temperatures due to the scorching sun. Annapurna Region receives significantly very very less rain than other parts of Nepal during the summer months. Summer season is the ideal season to do the trek in “rain shadow” Upper Mustang, Nar Phu, Upper Dolpa, Lower Dolpa. Likewise, Tibet's high arid plateaus are ideal for summer trekking.
